Who We Are

ClearKey is operated by a numbered Ontario corporation. This website is an educational tool only and does not constitute financial, mortgage, or legal advice. We are not a licensed mortgage brokerage.

Information We Collect

ClearKey is designed to be used without creating an account. We collect minimal information:

• Calculator inputs — numbers you enter into the mortgage calculators (home price, income, debts, etc.) are processed entirely in your browser and are not stored on our servers.
• AI chat messages — when you use the AI mortgage assistant, your messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. These messages are subject to Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy. We do not store your chat history.
• Usage data — we use Google Analytics and Google AdSense, which may collect anonymised data about how you use the site (pages visited, time on site, general location). This is used to improve the tool and serve relevant advertisements.
• Cookies — see the Cookies section below.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifying information unless you choose to contact us directly.

How We Use Your Information

• To operate and improve the ClearKey tool
• To serve relevant mortgage and real estate advertisements through Google AdSense
• To understand how visitors use the site through aggregated, anonymised analytics
• To respond to any direct inquiries you send us

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your calculator inputs or chat messages for advertising targeting.

Cookies

ClearKey uses cookies for the following purposes:

• Google Analytics — collects anonymised usage statistics. You can opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
• Google AdSense — serves advertisements based on your browsing behaviour. Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. You can manage your Google ad settings at adssettings.google.com.
• Functional cookies — small cookies that remember your preferences within a session (e.g. which tab you last used). These are deleted when you close your browser.

By continuing to use ClearKey, you consent to our use of cookies as described above. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time, though some features of the site may not function correctly.

AI Mortgage Assistant

The AI chat feature on ClearKey is powered by Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic. When you send a message:

• Your message and relevant calculator context (e.g. your GDS/TDS ratios) are sent to Anthropic's API
• Anthropic processes the message and returns a response
• We do not permanently store your chat conversations
• Anthropic may retain messages in accordance with their own privacy policy

The AI assistant provides general educational information only. It is not a licensed mortgage professional and its responses do not constitute mortgage advice. Always consult a licensed mortgage professional before making financial decisions.

Third-Party Services

ClearKey integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Anthropic (Claude AI) — anthropic.com/privacy
• Google Analytics — policies.google.com/privacy
• Google AdSense — policies.google.com/privacy
• Bank of Canada Valet API — publicly available data, no personal information transmitted

Data Retention

We do not retain calculator inputs or AI chat conversations on our servers. Anonymised analytics data is retained by Google Analytics per their standard retention policies (default 26 months). Any direct email correspondence is retained only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry.

Your Rights Under PIPEDA

As a Canadian resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Withdraw consent for the collection and use of your personal information (subject to legal and contractual restrictions)
• File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca

Children's Privacy

ClearKey is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of ClearKey after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
